Michiganders, any insights into the "Employee Free Choice Act"?

This doesn't sound very worker friendly, or am I wrong in this assessment?

Employee Free Choice Act

Union agenda meets reality

Not to be outdone, we have organized labor, a traditional cornerstone of the Democrats, pushing opportunities in Denver because the times (namely, the likelihood of a Democratic Congress and a Democrat in the White House) are so ripe for their agenda.

There's the bizarrely named "Employee Free Choice Act," which would essentially abolish the secret ballot in union organizing elections should the bill be signed into law by a President Obama who has said he would do just that.

There's would-be legislation to revoke right-to-work laws in more than 20 states, despite compelling evidence (see http://www.mackinac.org/article.aspx?ID=8943) that such states actually deliver higher economic growth, faster job growth, are closing the gap in per-capita income and get all those new auto plants.

But there's also the most compelling counter-argument of all -- the reality of competitive business in a market economy. Here in Michigan, unionization in the core auto industry hasn't resulted in more jobs, higher wages and better benefits. It's just the opposite, as any United Auto Workers member or leader could attest.

I think this pretty much spells it out.

It's about knowing whose house to firebomb when they don't vote in favor of unionization.

I don't understand how the Dems can even propose ending secrets ballots with a straight face.

I'd love to hear Superman's explanation on this.

Just saw a commercial against this law by none other than George McGovern. Yes, even George McGovern is against this.

How are the union organizers justifying the elimination of secret balloting?

What are the saying is the reason for this? We all know the real reason, but what are they using as the argument?

I don't think I've seen one of them try to explain it.
