PPOT Help Desk: Email From My Own Account?

Does anyone know if someone could send an email and make it appear as though it is FROM the account which received the message? I'm getting the occasional Viagra spam and the sender appears to be . . . me. I've got Norton 2008 on all of my computers at home, Norton & Windows firewalls and a Netgear router. I don't think it's possible to be a "spambot" and am looking for other answers . . .

All the time. Can be very annoying.

So do I have some sort of computer STD or are they just workin' some mojo on me?

Easily done. I can send a message with pretty much whatever I want in the From field. Its just regular spam.

Most probably not an STD, common to forge email headers in this fashion.

Yup. You can set up some stuff to stop it, like SPF records if you control your domain. Otherwise, the email and time displayed is set by the client software sending it. You can read the headers to get the real info, but not many folks know how to do that.
