Selling Telefunken radio. What's it worth?
I have a 1956 Telefunken radio I'd like to sell. Anyone have any insight on what it's worth? There are no comps on the net, so it's hard for me to value it.
It has all the paperwork that it was sold with, and the original box. And it works! I plan on listing it on The Samba. It could be a cool feature in someone's VW show car display. Or even a 356. ![]()

That is cool Charlie.
Check to see what type of tubes your radio has. There are certain Telefunken, GE, and Mullard Tubes or Valves that are worth quite a lot of money to audiophiles and guitar players. Reference what you have with Doug's Tubes or KCA Tubes. They list vintage NOS tubes and prices online. Good luck! Mike |

Thanks Mike,
Neither web site has tubes like mine listed. They seem to list NOS tubes that were originally in amplifiers. I think mine are not as good as amp tubes, as the radio is not meant to be that loud. I think the radio is worth more whole, rather than in parts.

Charlie, I would be interested in buying it once you figure out what you want for it.

I'd post it on 356registry.com/forum
I've got the original Blaupunkt from my 356. Thinking about gutting it and putting a MP3 player board in there, keep the original look, etc. but have "real" music besides AM and shortwave...

I think you are looking at $85-200 depending on condition and features such as short wave etc.
Radio tubes are always available but not as valuable as hifi tubes - triodes and pentodes found in 60s stereo equipment. You may have a couple of telefunken input tubes in there but nothing worth more than $10. Search and watch ebay. Lots of similar gear. Just listen to it and enjoy it. Leave it on your desk or kitchen. Great piece of kit for little money.
