Why it pays to work hard

I got my latest "back-pay" check from 07/05! I like how they still took out a penny for Medicare... Bastards.

When one aquires sudden wealth, it is wise to develop a finanical plan for how to deal with the money.

A testament to how the gov't wastes money. I including processing and postage, I'd wager that check cost the state 10 bucks to issue, if not 50. Is there any sanity left??

island_dude 09-17-2008 03:44 PM

That is impressive. $.07??? Why even bother.

Three words for you: drugs and whores.

serge944 09-17-2008 06:01 PM

Actually, my supervisor said it probably cost $100 to make that check happen in the grand scheme of things. What a joke.

You might be able to buy a share or two with that soon...

How can I get only 12.5% withholding like that? That's pretty good! Do I need to ask my boss to start paying me in bunches of $0.07 checks?

cl8ton 09-17-2008 10:22 PM

serge944, that's just sad, I feel for yaa...
And to think we vote these morons into office?

underpaid a credit card bill by $.27 once - they always sent a bill even if you had a zero balance. I just tore them up as I had paid it. I opened one a couple of months later for some reason or another and found that I had been hit with 3 late payments of $29 each and interest charges bill was up over $100 for a $.27 mistake

So I called them and after some discussion they agreed to drop the late charges and interest but they insisted that I pay the $.27 - I said it would cost them more to process the check than it would be worth. They insisted

Already annoyed I sat down and wrote 27 1 cent checks. Put them in an envelope and mailed them off.

Probably cost them at least 5 dollars per check to process :)

Try explaining to your girlfriend that your right wrist is so sore from "writing all those checks." ;)

dont cash it. that way they wont be able to balance next year's budget either....

widebody911 09-18-2008 08:37 AM

A couple of years ago, I owed some money to the IRS. For whatever reason, I came up about 60 cents short. They actually sent me a letter telling me that they were going to forgive the 60 cents.

Lol. They actually made a budget this week. The governor vetoed it because it reduced state worker take home pay by 15%. I would be very for it I wasn't one myself.
