Nick Mason from Pink Floyd
With the sad news about Richard Wright,
I started thinking about why I like Pink Floyd, and other than the fact that the music was a big part of the soundtrack of my misspent youth, the fact that Nick Mason was a huge car guy, and he liked the kinds of cars that I like, namely exotic racing cars from all eras. So to those of you who didn't know that, or had maybe forgotten, here is a little writeup from a while back about his car collection. No Jay Leno, but definitely not a wanker, either. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/features/article478048.ece

Top Gear had him on, I believe in exchange for driving his Enzo. It was a good bit, Jeremy kept plugging his book.

Any owner who is prepared to do this with his own 250 GTO (which he has owned for a good couple of decades) is pretty much a top level petrol head...
![]() Bringing the car to the grid... ![]() A full-on start... His book is brilliant as well.. the CD is awesome |

It is a spectacular car video, mixing vintage film and current video of Mason's and Gilmour's participation in today's rally, not to mention an incredible score by Gilmour.

Same car, different view. Getting some attention back at the shop.

I worked at a UK Ferrari dealership that Nick Mason and several business partners owned in the late 70s.
There was a track day at Brands Hatch and I was very lucky to be driven round the track for a few laps in the 250 GTO by Richard Bond. Not something to forget.

+1 on all the comments ... great car guy !
I had the pleasure of chatting with him at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed a few years ago as he casually leaned on his 512 ![]() His book "At The Limit" is also extremely well done.
