Actually, 2 million were to be ordered from China, but the Army did an "about face"...
(probably found them in "close-out" at WalMart).

Sorry, komrade...Must I stand in front of tank now? ;)

That's what happens when you decide that $5 is sufficient for a knife.

It's not.

Milu 09-21-2008 01:41 AM

The Smith & Wesson brand name for knives is owned by Taylor Cutlery. Manufacture is farmed out to different sub-contractors. Quality can vary a lot between manufacturers.

I think I have the same knife bought at Tractor Supply. If you paid $5 for it where did you expect it was made. You can't buy anything for $5 made in the USA.

BlueSkyJaunte 09-21-2008 02:16 PM

Ever since they started putting the "lawyer lock" on S&W revolvers, I've ignored anything with their name on it.

924slover 09-21-2008 03:11 PM

the knife was just kindof an secondary thought i just saw it and picked it up i have better knives but i saw it and figured what the hell

kstar 09-21-2008 03:44 PM

$5 knife?

I can't even find a decent five dollar sock.

Shawn 357 09-23-2008 05:17 PM

Always kind of funny when someone on a Porsche forum complains when something isn't made in the U.S. :)

Although it is kind of lame that something with the S&W logo is being made in a different country it would probably cost them more than $5 to make that same knife here.

I received an interesting knife from the NRA as a thank you.

Yep, you guessed it!!! NRA Logo and stamped China. Depressing!!!!

onlycafe 09-23-2008 08:09 PM

take a look at where most american flags are being made these days.

You may want to peek at some of the labels on your clothing.

My father is buried in Calverton National.

The flag from his casket was given to us in a nice wood display case, Made In China.

Makes all the efforts that France does to keep jobs and products "in country" sound kind of brillant in retrospect now, doesn't it? All the supporters of pure capitalism can claim to "own" the current financial crises we have in America right now.
