Ike Destruction

Went for a drive yesterday with some friends. Just around my area about 30 miles north of Galveston.

Did the picture application get disabled?

K, now I see it.
Some people still had some humor. Saw signs that said "Yard of the month" on a few lots. Pretty funny.

This house was blown across the road!

This is a pretty common sight. The wind just gutted houses.

And the Hilton you heard about getting torn to pieces on the news. This has to be a 50 ft sailboat just sitting right next to it.

The next neighborhood down from mine, Riverwalk, still doesn't have power. THey've had several signs out front

Welcome to Camp Riverwalk

Living without electricity, so easy even a caveman can do it.

Funny how I haven't heard anything about looting in the wake of Ike on the news....

Looks like everything is drying out rather well...? No standing floodwater?

I heard that some folks were arrested, but I think that was up in town. I think these folks were just trying to be funny.

I don't think there was much flooding due to rain in Houston. I think that most of the flooding was due to water levels rising from storm surge. It had also been pretty dry before the storm. Consequently, yes, we've dried out pretty well.

I'm back with power for the first time in 8 days thanks to Ike . Not much damage other than two large tree limbs took out phone/power/fence and landed on neighbors house . Also lost power to A/C on power up , hope it's just a breaker .

Really surprised at how little rain Ike brought , mostly high wind .

We've had power crews from many states helping get the power back on . I know our own crews were headed to Texas but were recalled because of problems here .

Hope all Pelicans are weathering the storm .
