help me remember a very old movie.

i watched it when i was very young. here is what i remember; there was an escape from a very remote prison. the prison was built way up in a mountain region, on a cliff face. they used black hanggliders to get in and out. does this ring a bell?

also was there a movie where some people got trapped in a shopping mall, and there were guard dogs hunting them down throughout the night?

wow, my teen years erased alot of memory

If they used hang glides it can't be a "very old" movie.

Based on a true story apparently. But I don't know if the guy was actually able to escape or not.. I remember reading the guys obit in an English newspaper.

Designed and built a glider of some sort. Scraps of wood and fabric..

I forget the name of the movie.

I've been to Colditz Castle, which is where the POW's built the glider plane. Dunno the name of the movie, but the prison was definitely Colditz Castle. It's in a very remote part of eastern Germany, sort of near Leipzig. I have photos somewhere.

nova, or maybe secrets of the dead did a documentary on the escape a few years bak. interviewed the actual survivors.

probably a better bet than the movie.
