LP tanks

Why do you have to turn the tanks off when you go through a tunnel?

Google "Caldecott tunnel fire" for an example.

That was a gasoline tanker. I am talking about 30lb. LP tanks on an RV.

turn of LP

Propane is heavier than air and will settle at lowest point. No air movement and right mixture can set of a big boom.
That's why propane lockers on boats are sealed and vented over board.

I thought the LP tanks had to ALWAYS be off when you are driving/pulling an RV

Thanks for the info, I was thinking it had something to do with the pressure change below sea level.
