Motorcycle parking in NYC
I'm going to NYC on 10/1 and 10/2 and unless it's raining, will be taking the bike.
I think this is a stupid question, but is it safe to park the Duc on the street? I lived in the city for a few years and never had a problem with cars, but I think a van and two strong guys would cart my bike away in seconds.

I don't know about the crime issue, but the only time I was ever in NYC, it was on a motorcycle. It was much easier to get around on the bike as was finding a place to park.

hey Vinny,
midtown and lower west side. both seemingly safe, but you never know. I thought about a lock but it took me 30 seconds last summer to cut through contractor's jobbox cable, maybe 3/4 inch thick with a smallish bolt cutter. BTW, I'll also be down October 5-6-7 and free then.

Hey Shaun,
Both areas are pretty safe. Took my bike to the city for years. Only problem I ever had was getting rear ending by a cab while I sat at a red light. Sent my bike across the intersection and me landing on the hood. ![]() My biggest concern would be actually finding a parking spot. They nail you for parking on a sidewalk so don't even think about it!( ask me how I know...) If you are that worried, theres allot of parking garages and lots around. Not cheap, but secure at least. Hit me up when you're in town

Most bikes I see in the city ARE locked, usually with heavy duty kryptonite type bike locks...Odds are you will probably be OK, but you never know....

do NOT park your bike on the street. DO NOT. it wont be stolen. it will be pushed over on its side by a drunk, or, an idiot will back into it with their car.
the one and only time i left my bike on the street over night, some idiot broke the mirror off The few bucks you will spend on garage parking will give you peace of mind, trust me

i always parked my bike in this garage on Mulberry Street in Little Italy/NOLITA, 1/2 block south of Prince Street, 1/2 block north of Spring Street. After you park, walk to the corner of Mulberry and Spring and grab a slice of Vodka Pizza at Pomodoro

If you want you can stuff it in my private garage in Jersey City for free...pay 1.75 and take the Path into Manhattan (10 minute ride, 600 ft from my house). An option for you if you're interested send me a PM.
