Anyone had success with Dry Ice on Hail Dents?

I've got a few dents on big flat surfaces I'd like to get rid of. I've heard rubbing dry ice on the dented area works. Anyone tried it themselves?

yeah, it works, depending on the type of dent

but you gotta heat it up with a hair dryer first, then apply the freeze (dry ice , or some kind of liquid gas from an upside down spray can)...

the dent cannot be popped if it crosses a fold in the metal, by fold, i mean, like the door of a 944, where the door trim hangs...
there also can't be any impact spot visible, or a well defined crease in the metal, those things won't pull from heat/cold

think of it as paper, you can pull 2 sides of a page, and you'll flatten it
but if you put a fold/crease in it, you'll still see the remnants of that fold after you flatten it...no matter how hard you pull

anyway, it can't hurt to try it on your particular dent

I tried it with no such luck. I used a hair dryer first and that didn't work so I got out the heat gun and the dry ice and it didn't work either. The wife said it came out a little but I didn't notice any difference.

But hey, it's worth a shot and is much cheaper then having paintwork done.

Good Luck, and I hope yours turns out better than mine did.

I looked into this a few years ago, and found that very few people have had success with it. I suppose it's cheap and worth a shot, but PDR works well and isn't too expensive.
