Congrats. I second taking the class. Yes it's basic but that's where you start and you are forced to spend the day thinking about safety. The drills are then something you can practice later. I got a lot out of it. There are things I would not have learned on my own and the instructors were good. I took it at Sandpoint. I plan on doing a day at Pacific Raceways in the spring with one of the groups as the next step.

I had a bad bike Karma day on Friday. Two older ladys tried to take me out. One in the morning paying more attention to her latte than traffic merged into me. In the afternoon a broad desperate to make the exit southbound I-5 to 85th almost took my front wheel out at 60mph. Good learning experiences but damn scary. Not sure I could have done anything differently. I avoided the morning by swerving at slow speed and the afternoon by braking. It really reemphasized the need to be super aware of what's around me and anticipating every stupid move a driver can make.

If you'd like to hook up for a ride before the weather gets crappy let me know. Maybe we can get Higgins on his Ducati to show us newbies some tricks of the trade.

All the gear all the time!

My favorite is when the latte sipping b*tch gives you a dirty look after she runs you off the road. :D Be safe!

The latte sipper was freaked out and was mouthing, Oh I'm so sorry.... luckily we were stuck in slow commute traffic and that one wouldn't have caused any real problems.

The other one was totally oblivious. I ran her down, pulled up next to her at a stop light and told her she almost killed me getting off the freeway. She just had a dumb and slightly spooked look on her face. Idiot

Careful now - don't piss the cagers off! You wont like them when they're angry.

Very nice--great decision.

+1 on MSF. I was a sportbike rider for years, laid off, came back and took the msf right away. Definitely some things to learn for anyone and if you get a good instructor he/she will teach you to your ability (to some extent). And you don't have to drive the test.

But you shoulda got the scooter.... ; )
