Anyone else running Vista64?

I'm running Vista64 on my Dell Inspiron 530 with quad-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 1.5TB hard drive and NVidia 8600GT video card. It's been about a month and all's well so far. I had to find all of the 64bit drivers, but it wasn't too difficult and the performance is very good. Not a single lock-up or blue screen so far.

And please don't tell me to switch to Linux, I've tried that and I was not happy at all... Thanks!

Art, I ran it for a while also. For me it was a clear improvement over the 32 bit version. I now have 64 bit Server 2008 on my XPS M1330 and use it daily. Server 2008 allows me to run Hyper-V and a XP client from which I can use the Cisco VPN client.

Unfortunately neither of these overcomes compatibility issues with industry specific applications our clients need.

When you turn off the computer has it ever just sat there overnight saying shutting down and the only thing that does anything is pulling the plug?

Not for me.

XP does that too sometimes.

They're Windows products. I expect marginal reliability at best.

I'm using it on my new Dell T3400 with 4G RAM and Nvidia Quadro FX3700. Primarily used for SolidWorks 2008 and AutoCad 2009, but also using standard Office applications. No problems at all.

Mine shuts down just fine every time. I'm also running Windows Home Server (WHS) on a Dell PowerEdge 400SC and it backs up all of the PC's in our house every night and stores all of our media.

I run it on my new quad core, I have 8GB of RAM so it was a must. It sure does fly! Have not had issues other than finding bluetooth drivers, which I found in the end.

How do I know if I am running regular Vista or Vista 64? I just downloaded the SP1 last night. Vista runs ok, but I am not wowed with it.

There's lots of older hardware that will not run on 64-bit and some companies haven't really bothered to make much of an effort. Software isn't there yet - especially if you plan on pirating.

There is no benefit of 64-bit and it's more of a headache to "upgrade" than anything else.

Vista in itself is just a waste of system resources to begin with.

Regardless the OS is 64bit and will benefit greatly from that.
