Stove electronic igniters not shutting off

And now for something completely different!

In my rental unit I have gas stove with electronic igniter.

When you turn the stove on all four burner have good spark however when you throttle back the igniter's continue to spark for about twenty seconds. Except for the front right burner that turns immediately off when the burner lights as is normal.

Renter is complaining that the sound wakes her baby in the morning.

Never has to mess with a stove and I'm not sure what tells the igniter to turn off.

So riddle me this PPOT... any stove experts out there?

is the stovetop clean? is the ceramic center cap thing sitting straight?

mine does it when i scrub the top, and the moisture hasnt been dried off. i typically turn it all on and let it heat up, then the "click!" goes away.

I've used the resources at both of these links to fix appliances before.

I bet that one of them has the answer.

Yep, a little surfing on applianceaid.com yielded this possibility

Vash, I have had the same problem after cleaning my stove, however this lady is a clean freak, it is a flat glass top stove, and yes I checked that everything is aligned.

Thanks for the links masraum, I will check them out

Might be a safety thing or a sensor going away. Get a schematic of the Net and then go to the appliance fix forum. It might be one of those links above.

Geez, the things renters will complain about. I'd never manage my own properties. I've worked in too many rentals and know they just are a PITA. I won't work in them anymore (well. that could change with the economy as it is).

Yeah I'm betting the stove has been doing this for years... she is just the first one to complain about it.

I had two young helicopter pilots renting the place last year... they went without hot water for two days before saying anything. Turned out the pilot light had blown out on the (outside) water heater. I showed them how to light it and never had that problem again.

The stove sparks and lites fine... I suspect there are switches that tell the igniter's to turn off that are dirty or out of adjustment.

I find it amusing the things renters will complain about
