My dad always tells me about the time he skipped school with his bro to go up to Indian Dunes to ride. He starts getting some competition from a guy on a Husky They go at it a bit and then pull off the track and he pulls off his helmet. Steve McQueen in the flesh. His brother looks at him and says "I think the best movie you ever did was The Blob!" My dad says Steve just started laughing. He also said that he had this tricked out van with a fuel mixer/nozzle. Filled up my dad's bike too.

some important moral lessons in this film:

1. always buckle up before a hard-chargin' car chase

2. a 390 ford cannot pass a 440 hemi

cool. i always wanted a route map of the chase.

3. Be aware of older people, especially if one looks like a grandfather and one wears a librarian eyeglasses --- they could be assassins.

Haven't seen that movie on a large screen in a long time and this format is too small to tell...

If I recall, the Dodge loses a right side hubcap in a downhill, left hand turn as he brushes the curb.

Editing flaw trivia: later in the chase, both right side hubcaps are still in place.:)

They drove right past my old apartment on Potrero Hill (Before I lived there). Also, I take Guadalupe Canyon Parkway to autocrosses at Candelstick. Good warm-up.

Can you imagine if they tried to film that today in san fran?
Thousands of hippies protesting, city council demanding they use electric cars,
Tree huggers suing because they might run over an endangered weed or bug.
Couldn't happen.

A while ago, a friend and I counted, the car loses about 8 hubcaps total(I forget what the total was, but it was more than 4.). Nothing like pulling over and replacing hubcaps in a car chase...lol
