Direct TV funk?
Mine doesn't work.
"searching for satellite signal" black screen. Anybody else? KT |
Pay your damn bill!
Mines working. ;) |
DTV working here in SoCal.
Have you had high winds or been up on your roof bumping around? Maybe your dish is now misaligned. Also, is every channel giving you the "no signal" message? Have you tried fishing around in SETUP MENU > Installation? |
It's back. Thanks for fixing it!
We shut it off earlier. I came back to this thread and told my wife to turn it back on. She said, "why?" I told her, "I have 'my people' working on it" She said, "you have people"? I guess I do... thanks! KT |
It's off again...
Now she says "so, you do not have people"... KT |
Now it's back.
Stop fooling with me, fellas. KT |
Dood, go realign your antenna. Click Menu - Parental Fav's & Setup - System Setup - Sat & Ant - View Signal Strength, and have someone tell you when most, if not all of the transponders show better than 85% signal while you're on the roof moving the dish. (Use a cell phone)

KT,
When we had DirectTV, our did that too and we had to replace the card in the tuner, it was fried. We switched to AT&T UVerse when our 2 year contract was up and we haven't looked back. If you need a spare DirectTV dish, I can send you one free, you just pay postage... |
Our roofers did a crap job of re-attaching the dish, so about every 9 or so months I have to get up on a ladder and slightly (a few degrees) re-aim our dish. Takes about 5 minutes, the time consuming part is getting the kids to behave so the wife can watch the signal strength meter...

Are you a McCain supporter? You do realize there's an Obama channel, right?
All your TVs, are belong to Barack! |
The new HD set-top box is crap. It needs to be reset on a regular basis. If you search the internet, you will find this is a common occurance. Directv has stated they have no intention of fixing this problem.
On the plus side, Directv is back in bed with Tivo so they may have a solution eventually. Our Directv tivo box has never had a problem. |
Interesting. I'm working from home today and headed up to the kitchen for lunch. The DirecTV box won't power up with the remote. It won't power up with the "Power" button. I pressed the red reset button under the front panel door and it went through the searching... screens and finally came up.
|
Unplug it. Leave it unplugged for a minute (at least 30 seconds) to let the capacitors drain. Plug it back in and let it go through its boot-up process. I would guess this will get you a picture back.

We probably came in just as it had downloaded and it didn't respond until the sofltware was applied. My dead receiver was still warm. Most likely all is well now... unless it's a bad patch again. One would think they could do this at 2 am and keep their switchboards from lighting up. |
My cable service is it's usual crappy, reliable self.:D

Do any of you gentlemen with Direct TV suffer from "image freeze"?
Ours freezes for 23-24 seconds then returns to normal. It can happen around 4/5 time a night. The sound carries on as normal during the freeze I've done all the resetting rubbish, unplugging, rebooting. The systems been rewired from antenna to receiver and we're on our 5th receiver. Any ideas? Direct TV don't. Thanks in advance. |

Stu, If you don't find your answer in this thread, start your own thread. This forum has good people that are knowledgable. |
