Jeremy Clarkson - Worst car in the World - Sebring
Rental car in the US. Convertible.
Were going to drive from Utah to Denver, ditched it after 120 miles and flew the rest of the way. Also waxes on about the US economy, quality and history (lack thereof). http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/jeremy_clarkson/article4873574.ece |
I have owned a '97 Sebring and I couldn't agree more. If he thinks that it's a bad car to drive then he should try fixing one. I have NEVER had a car that had an engine more awkward to access. Even the Mini and 911 are far easier to work on than that POS.
If ever I buy another Chrysler product please remind me to shoot myself. |
Umm, where's the Clarkson content?
I must agree, nearly everything Chrysler is a total POS. $38k for a Sebring?! Hahahahahahaha! My parents owned both a Sebring and Stratus several years ago, they both failed a head-gasket before 50k, along with a host of other issues. Those were the last Chrysler products they bought, after a string of POS vehicles. It was a big deal for my dad, a die-hard MOPAR guy who grew up in Richard Petty's hometown. Today they have a Toyota and Hyundai, and couldn't be happier. |
My parents had one as a rental car last time they were out this way. OMG what a turd.
I didn't think anyone could have styling more boring than Toyota. I was wrong. I didn't think anyone could have interiors cheaper than Honda. Again, I was wrong. I didn't think anyone could make a CONVERTIBLE less fun than the PT Cruiser. I was wrong. I didn't think anyone could make a car with less pickup/performance/handling than Kia. Again, I was wrong. I was tremendously underwhelmed. |

I rented one 2 weeks ago for a 3 day 899 mile circle in Florida. Tampa, Gainesville, JAX, Daytona, Orlando, down 27 through Sebring to Naples, up to Sarasota & finishing with St Pete's. The Sebring is useful as a Florida suncatcher but it is not a great car. The Solera drop tops are a lot more fun & far more engaging to drive. They have started to charge a premium for Mustang converts so I haven't had one for a while.
I did luck out & I got a G35 for the price of a Corolla for Charlotte to Atlanta last week. Now THAT was fun. Ian |
At least the last Sebring I rented had a hand brake... and it was in Chicago in the snow. Ahh, what fun.

I rent Sebring convertibles in Florida everytime I get down there. As good as an American car gets is what I would say. Much better than they used to be.
