is Penske leaving ALMS?

My son sent me an email today with an article stating Penske is going to run a Daytona protype at next years 24 hours of Daytona. I can't remember where the article was from Anyway the article lead you to believe they may run more of the season if sponsorship can be found. It also stated that Roger Penske wasn't happy with the ALMS rule changes for next year that will make it near impossible for LMP2 cars to battle for overall wins with LMP1. He stated that next years plan has not been finalized. So any of you guys heard anything about this? I enjoy watching and attending the ALMS races and would be sad to see Penske pull out. If no one picked up the slack it would only leave Dyson Racing running the LMP2 cars and they haven't been nearly as competitive as Penske.

Penske is about "big time" racing. Perhaps the ALMS isn't "big time" enough for him?

Perhaps the France family (who control NASCAR and Rolex Grand Am) have put pressure on Penske. You know, some of their (very profitable) NASCAR teams might be put in an awkward position because Penske is running in a competing sports car series...

lots of 'take my ball and go home' in racing isn't there.

i'd rather watch Rolex/Grand Am anyways.

The anouncers during petit le mans alluded to this subject. they didn't come right out and say it but they hinted at it, things like "if penske is still here next year" etc.

I thought I had read or seen that there was not going to be a Porsche Factory team (re Penske) next year, so if Roger is not supplied with cars, equipment, engineers and drivers, I could see this scenerio playing out.

I would think that some other priviteers would step in.

P2 in ALMS could be decimated next year.

Two of the Acura teams are stepping up to P1. Along with the rumor about Penske leaving the series, there is speculation that Dyson is purchasing Lolas and stepping up to P1 as well.

There could be a few used RS Spyders available for sale soon.
