Question Sony digital camera repair

I have two Sony digital cameras that are in need of some repairs. The first one is a DSC-F505 and the other is a DSC-F707V. I went onto Sony's website to get some prices for repair. They want a flat fee of $291.00 to fix the DSC-F505 and almost $350.00 to repair the DSC-F707V. The cameras are not even worth that much. I don't want to just throw them away. Plus, I am kind of attached to them. They have served me well.
Question is this, does anyone here know of a place that does repair work on Sony cameras that does not charge an arm and a leg?
Thanks in advance for any leads.

Dan

Good luck.

My advice, put em on flea bay as "parts" cameras. You should get reasonably good coin for them.

Buy new cameras.

Not sure what is wrong with either of your camera's but I had a Sony DV camcorder sent out for repairs via Best Buy/Geek Squad, my touch screen went out. The bill was $120. I'm not sure who they sent it to, but it was in Texas.

The DSC-F505V always says that the battery is dead. I have replaced the battery twice. (same problem) The charger is putting out voltage so I am assumming the problem is in the camera itself.
The DSC-F707 comes up with memory errors constantly. There is something loose under the select switch. If I hold the camera extremely still it functions. Not practical for everyday use. I may end up taking that one apart to investigate myself.
Stomachmonkey, If all else fails, the FleaBay route sounds like a good approach.

Update!
I found a place literally right near where I live. http://cameraandvideorepair.com/ Very reasonable prices. I dropped off both cameras yesterday and will update again when I get them back. Its a small mom and pop type place. I like to support my own neighborhood when I can.

I got a call from the camera repair shop yesterday. The F707 is fixed. It works like a charm. They replaced the switch control, resoldered a couple of loose connections, and cleaned all the contacts. They even tightened up the lens pivot to camera body. This thing feels and works like new again. I'm really glad that I have it back.
Total cost of the repair "out the door" was $140.00 Well worth it for me.
The other camera is still not diagnosed yet. It'll probably be another week before I hear the story on that one.
