Mike,

I can you lend you my parents neighbor. No, I'd be glad to give you my parents neighbor. He will get those vehicles out of there in no time!

We don't want him back.

+1. I didn't want to seem grumpy, but your calm, face-to-face words are your best bet.

When I was in my early 20's, my band parked a 15-pass van w/ a 12x6 trailer in front of the house where 2 of the guys lived. There was this a-hole of an old man named OLD MAN CASEY who lived across the street.

Every once in a while we would park the van, or a car in front of OLD MAN CASEY'S across the street. And he'd frickin lose it. He'd stand out on his porch and shake his cane at us and spew profanities and scream at us "GET THAT PIECE OF CRAP OUT FROM IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE." Thing was, he parked in his garage. Didn't even park in front.

If he had EVER, EVER in those five years walked across the street and said "Hello. My wife has trouble walking and needs to park the car in front of our sidewalk, so I was hoping you nice, young, strong guys could park around the corner or something, and I'm sure she would appreciate it too. She can barely walk and I'm scared she's going to fall."

Man, I would've moved in a second. But instead, I hated that old cane-shaking bastard.

Absolutely, but thats just my opinion.
Oh my, juan. That seems so wrong on so many levels. Call the cops for this and you'll just have a couplea pissed off cops asking you why you can't work it out.

I prefer to be a nice guy BEFORE I act like a dick. Give them a chance to do the right thing, ask calmly and politely that they move their stuff. If they refuse, go home and call the local PD and president of your HOA.

Typically the nice guy approach works well, but sometimes you just have to be a dick.

let Barney be the bad guy..that's what you pay him for in this instance..
drop the dime...
talking will get you nothing but ..' he's the one who called'
all the neighbors want it gone..

Personally I feel like a chickenshat if I don't discuss it "man to man". So what if they know you called? So what if they don't like you? All you can do is the right thing, let the chips fall where they may. It's how I'd like to be treated, do unto others and all that.......

What's wrong with letting the authorities handle it? I'm sure they initially just be asked to move the stuff just like you would. They're more likely to ignore your request long-term and why guarantee you're the one who ratted them out?

I could envision discussing it "man to man," then wondering what chickenshat keyed my car.

Since you are not allowed to have firearms off you property, set up surveilence and a sniper rifle. Pick them off when the get too close to a window. When the go outside to invesitgate, get the rest.

Case closed and you don't even have to call the Police.

That's why the car goes into the garage.

With that kind of hardware parked out front, you could come up with some very creative means of revenge.

Why would the neighbor know that you reported him? Is this not anonymous ?
I had this situation, phoned city hall, problem solved the next day.

Only the ones that run...the other 4 are on cinder blocks in the back yard as they should be. Seriously though, I would NOT even consider putting up with a HOA's bs & rules. Fortunately, all of my neighbors have always been considerate, decent folks, and have some common sense...I realize that doesn't apply to CA !

Last time I check they had a non emergency number to handle this type of things.

The problem with CA isn't Californians. I was in a room with 30 people and I was the only native!

+1 I was born in LA 50 years ago! No seriously, if some whack job decides to park his construction vehicle's or RV's on our street one email to the HOA cures the problem.
They threaten, the fine

Another 51 year old native Los Angeleno... and I live in a very nice old upscale neighborhood... with NO HOA thank you very much!

However we do have city ordinances limiting how long you can park a motorhome on the street and pertaining to abandon vehicles.
