A winner.

Yep--can still get the classic buses brand new. Although they did quit selling brand new Beetles a couple years ago.

about 70-80% of all vehicles I saw--cars, buses, large trucks, and industrial trucks, were VWs...I had a GOL, not GOLF, a GOL rental

and LOTS of bikes--mostly Honda CBX 350s

Those vans have a front-mounted radiator and a watercooled engine... I think they use an I4 instead of the h4 from vanagons, etc.

Would be a perfect setup for a diesel swap in a westy

Huge VW plant in Brazil. They design and build their own cars.

The later version of the Fox was built there. The Puma was a Brazilian car, too.

The Beetle line was moved to China.

On the far right in the photo, there is a wagon version of the Puma. Saw these alot, but no "proper" Puma. There was also a Kelmark GT kitcar running around the town I was in, and a few VW-based dune buggies.

The car on the right looks like a Brasillia. Some of the running gear is the same, platform is similar. Both have parts from Beetle, K.Ghia, Type 3, Type 4.

The Kelmark looks like a copy of the Puma. The front end especially is almost identical.

I'll bet you DID see a Puma.

Tcar,

You are right. I was confusing the Puma with the Brasilia---The Brasilia is the one which came in a wagon and a fastback correct? It had a Squareback-type front end. There were tons of the wagon version running around--I remember seeing photos of the fastback version waaay back and remembering it being quite appealing.

What I thought was a Kelmark had to be a Puma. :)

I told my liason that if I lived there, I would have to have a Beetle.

Here's another VW...this farmer had a gas-operated press mounted inside and was selling sugarcane juice---had the stalks in the back, three times through the "juicer" and voila....juice-obviously it was SWEET.

I live in China and have yet to see a Kafer anywhere. All the Beetles are of the new watercooled front wheel drive variety.

You are correct... I'd heard that from a friend.

A search looks like much of the Brazil equipment went to Puebla, Mexico.

The car on the far right actually looks a lot like the K70.. doubt that it is, but would be very cool if it was.

I used to have a 69 411L, 1968 production. Still have dads 56 oval window that he bought new at the factory..
