new motorsports complex in GA....
There is a new player in town. They already have bought 90% of the land. They also have commitments ( or so I have heard) from ALMS, Grand-am, SCCA, etc. This track will consist of a Nascar style oval, with a good sized infield. The complex will have a waterpark, concert stadium, etc... Sounds good, and only 30 miles or so down I-16 from Macon, GA.... Check it out!!

i realize it is in the heart of georgia, but no road course?
|
yes, it has a road course. It will have a 1.75 infield road course, which combined with part of the banked oval, will be just like Daytona.....

Macon?

I keep hearing about new tracks, but very few ever happen. I would think Macon would not be a good location. Atlanta Motor Speedway is too close. ALMS is not going to give up Road Atlanta and Grand-Am probably wouldn't interested either

I'm assuming that it is located at the same place as the point of contact for the track..... Danville, Georgia

T.C, From what I hear, Grand-am and ALMS, have already given their blessings and notice that they would use the track when completed. Yes, It is close to AMS, however, it is close to 2.5 hours ( possibly 3 with traffic) away from R.A. You could have a race early in the season at this track, and then finish the year out later at R.A. Grand-Am does not even have a race in GA. The closest they come is either Daytona or Barber....
Hey, if they want to build it, I will welcome it with open arms!! Mike, Yes, I believe the track is either in Danville, or slightly East-Southeast of the town ( A few exits down from Danville about 32 Miles from Macon) |
Isn't there some type of track there now? I seem to remember some signs for an oval or something last time I drove by.
Hope this happens ... would be nice to have another track close by :) |
