home heating oil: buy now or wait

I am down to 1/4 tank..i need to get oil soon. I see the current price here in Nj is 2.799...what is the consenses on price? i have yet to turn the heat on (wood stove ftw) but use the oil for hot water. I figure i have a month..will it go up or down?

It might depend on what OPEC does...they're meeting soon (early November? Not sure.) IF they vote to cut production beacause of the current crude price?

Yeah, IF that...now might be a good time to fill up. Cindy & I going through the same thoughts...

I am not looking forward to this winter. At least I did have a new boiler installed last year. It's a crapshoot as to when to buy.

Buy a sweater, PJs and a night cap. Wool socks help too.

All kidding aside, I like the programmable thermostats. If oil heat is a back up in the cold of winter - 78F as you get up and shower and 55 during the day. Bump it up to 68 when you get home and 60 when you have a nightcap in you..

Other than that, the price of crude is dropping and the economy is crapping out. Buy some now, and see where it goes..

Try dollar cost averaging. By half of your tank now, and wait on the other half to see what the market does. Worst case, you hedged the increase by half...
