Morro Bay vacation

Leaving Sunday for a week vacation the central coast of Calif. I go up there a lot so I know my way around pretty well however I thought I would throw out a question to see if there are any secret hole in the wall places to go hiking and or fun bars restaurants that I have missed.

Sunday: Drive up to Ventura in the afternoon, check into hotel, drive down to the marina for lunch and check out the blues band playing at Hi-Cee's, for dinner have sushi at the marina or one of the other places downtown Ventura.

Monday: Sleep in, adapt to central coast time, walk over to Morro Bay Brewery and see if they have anything good on tap, bumble around town aimlessly and plot where I am going to have lunch/dinner.

Tuesday: See Monday + If I feel energetic drive to either Montona De Oro or San Simion state park and hike around a little or visit Cayucos tide pools.

Wednesday: 10AM Hearst castle tour then Lunch in Cambria.

Thursday: If I feel like it drive to Paso Robles for wine tasting.

Friday: See Tuesday.

Saturday: Drive back to Lost Angeles.

There are also various bars that have live music at night In Morro, so I will need to scope that out... unfortunately not all of them advertise that fact.

Anyone know of some local secret hangouts I should check out?

If I told ya, then they wouldn't be secret anymore.

If you like burritos, stop off at:
Tio Alberto's
1131 Broad St
San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
(805) 546-9646

If you're really nice, you'd bring one back and drop it off on your way home...

Hey, SLO is a retirement town as well... There are creepy old people everywhere.

You're already going to all of the places I'd go back to.

Cool... Of course if MB Brewery has some good stuff on tap I reserve the right to spend most of my time there (two blocks from my hotel). The first time I went in there they had five or six taps going and everything was fantastic! Unfortunates on my last visit they only had two brews and they were just so-so.

We stayed there on our honeymoon for a night. I was not real impressed with Morro Bay or SLO. I had really been looking forward to SLO. Lots and lots of homeless folks and we had a mediocre dinner at some "saloon". Looked pretty dead at night.

Well, I am in SLO right now actually, and just finished eating at the 'highly recommended, award winning" Tahoe Joe's steak house off of Madonna Road. It was very good indeed.

I will try that tomorrow!

(Dave, we were actually going to stay in Van Nuys and I was going to call to see if you were around, but they moved us up here at @ 1:00pm to cover for someone else who broke.)

Scott, If you go wine tasting up there try Eberle, EOS and Zin Alley. Also hit up Toben James they always have a good crowd (babes) at the tasting bar (I think it's 19th century from Deadwood, S.D. or something like that). Also in Ventura, I don't know if you've tried Marina Sushi downtown which is good or you can stumble across the marina from Hi-Cee's and get a good steak at the Scotch and Sirloin. Have fun, I'd join you for a beer in Ventura if I wasn't so busy this weekend.
Oh, if John Marx is playing Hi-Cee's you're in for a treat.

Scott, If your making your way thru SB on Sunday, stop by the Cold Springs Tavern for some of the best Tri-Tip sandwiches around. Usually good music being played by locals.

If coming thru SB on Monday and its around lunch time. Try La Super Rica for some quality & authentic road side mexican food. The place is an institution. If you just need a refill on coffee stop by my office. I am right off the freeway (233 S. Milpas Street) and serve SB Roasting Company Coffee. (Open invite to any in the area) Usually in my office from 7am till after 5pm.
