Chinese GP

Hooray for CGI fireworks and underage gymnasts. Woops, that was the Olympics.

Anyhoo, two more rounds left and it's a three way battle for the top spot. Alonso has stated he will do anything he can to help Massa, and I take that as a NASCAR love tap into an armco kinda love. Alonso could be the X factor, to use a boring cliche.

Kimi can also do his part if he hits the snooze button a bit earlier, say during Q3 of Qualifying. Massa knows he can't let his other personality out either (see Mr. Slippy Crashy).

So Kubica, you want to cement that #1 spot? Time to show us what you had in the Canadia(n) GP. Show us that Polish stew made you grow up big and strong.

Hamilton, you might be matching Villenueve's record if you can keep the steel belts on your tires from showing.

Gonna be a good one :D

i dunno..i think Hamilton is going to do it this time...

It's very important that all drivers, regardless of what is said before or during the race, understand what types of infractions will result in a penalty. A driver must ask themselves: "Is what I'm doing going to benefit Ferrari?" If the answer is "no" a penalty will be awarded either during or after the race.

legion 10-17-2008 09:23 PM

Who the heck is the new guy on F1 Debrief?

legion 10-18-2008 07:47 AM

Predictions:

If Massa gets a DNF for any reason, Hamilton will get a 10 grid-spot penalty for the next race.

If Hamilton finishes in the points and Massa does not, Hamilton will get a post-race drive through (of at least 25 seconds, maybe more).

The only way Hamilton will NOT get a penalty this race is if Massa gets ahead of him and stays ahead or Hamilton is taken out (Raikonnen and Alonso would be my guesses as to the perpetrators). Any incident that hurts Hamilton will be ruled a "racing incident"--or Hamilton will be penalized for causing it.

NOTHING!?

No comments on qualifying or the race.

BTW, I forward my predictions to Brazil.

cl8ton 10-19-2008 09:45 AM

I already watched the race so not spilling any spoilers now :D

I find it odd Alonso offered to help Massa win the WDC? This after Massa calls him a "F$#@ing Idiot" on world TV last year!
How much animosity does this guy have for McLaren?

SPOILERS!!!

SPOILERS!!!

SPOILERS!!!

Hamilton get pole. Hamilton leads pretty much the entire race. Kovalienen blows a tire and drops to the back of the pack. Later in the race he retires. (I'm guessing so that he can get a fresh engine for next race.) Raikonnen in 2nd, Massa in 3rd...

BTW, does anyone notice how Massa's car has a bigger "fin" than Raikonnen's?

...Anyway. Massa passes Raikonnen with blatant team orders. Somehow, I don't think there will be any penalty for Ferrari, despite Raikonnen pretty much admitting team orders in the post-race interview (during some surprisingly tough questioning from Peter Windsor).

Anyway, no penalties during the race that I know of. No post-race penalties...yet.

cl8ton 10-19-2008 11:03 AM

Wow..."The Pass" is already posted on Youtube!
Watch closely, you can see Kimi hand motion Massa around :D j/k but this dam sure was blatant!

Team orders have always been a part of f1 and since Kimi has no chance at the title it's good that he helped out Felipe.

MotoSook 10-19-2008 05:02 PM

Chris,

Why was it surprising that Peter W. kept at it with the pass questions? He and the SPEED crew pretty much needed tissue for all the "I feel sorry for Hamilton" rant that went on for maybe 5 minutes. :)

Also, remember the pass Hamilton got from Heiki? I forgot which race it was, but he needed the points...and Heiki was wasn't too happy after the race.

Hamilton would have a lot more fans if he didn't gloat so much after a win or good race...and if he was more humble with his peers. The SPEED guys were commenting that all but one driver avoided talking to Hami during one of the events over the weekend. He and Kubica use to be good pals....and now I doubt they even talk, esp. after the comments from Hamilton and his handlers about Kubica. Something about Hamilton .."doing his talking on the track." then he finished outside the points...while Robert came in 2nd.

If Hami doesn't win it this year...no one will really care if he wins it next year or not. If he wins the championship next year...he'll just be another champion, nothing special. If he loses the championship next year..it'll just be another Hami season. The name Villenue was tossed out during the race. Until he starts showing some humility, he'll have to win more championships than Shumi to win over his detractors.

Oh well....Brasil will be a good race.

MotoSook 10-19-2008 05:06 PM

I almost forgot the best part of the race...

Hamilton's "Made in China" trophy falling apart on the podium. LOL! The trophies looked like chrome plated steel or polished alloy..but the way the guys were waving them around, they might have been chrome plated plastic trophies.

jyl 10-19-2008 06:21 PM

I thought the race was a snoozer. In fact, I did doze off, then had to rewind to see what I'd missed (Tivo). Nice that the championship is still up for grabs headed to Brazil, but that was about all I got out of the race.

sammyg2 10-20-2008 06:42 AM

I find it more than a little anoying that the two announcers (who are both British) can't shut up about how great hamilton is and how everyone isn the whole world is against him and howe it's so unfair.
Reminds me of some of the people posting here. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that hambone is british and the manufacturer of his car is supposedly british?
How about a little unbiased commentary for a change, or at least some different commentors.

jyl 10-20-2008 07:37 AM

Random comment - taking away traction control was the biggest improvement this year, IMO. Much more interesting to see the drivers catching slides.

Seric 10-20-2008 12:33 PM

Snoozer of a race. Diefy did a bang up job in rep of Varsha, kudos chap.

I thought it was kinda silly how Massa was saying one thing in the interview room, and Kimi said another. Woops! To be fair, Massa was running the prime tires and Kimi on the options and it's well known the Ferrari is faster on primes. Soooo, yea they set it up, but I think they should of made it look a tad more convincing. But then you risk losing a car if they push to hard and slam into eachother.

Team order rule should be abolished, it's ridiculous. Let the teams do what they want for beef's sake.

I agree 100%.

But I have a feeling that any other team that tried this so late in the race would have been penalized severely.
