I don't get DHL!

I ordered a new PC from Dell last week and it shipped on Friday.

On Saturday I see that it's arrived at the DHL facility in Rochester, MN. That's where I live, so I'm thinking I'll get it on Monday.

Nope... On Monday I see the status as "Transit through DHL facility" in Minneapolis, MN. That's 75 miles away.

No new status updates since Monday at 4:48am.

What's going on here? Are they making sure shipping take 3-5 days because that's what I paid for?

DHL no longer flies on within USA shipping, it's sub contracted to UPS, the delivered to the DHL hub.

A month ago I ordered something from Pelican Parts, shipped via UPS, and here is the path that it took:

1. From Orange, CA. airport to Salt Lake City.
2. From Salt Lake City to Charlotte NC.
3. From Charlotte to Los Angles (LAX).
4. From LAX to Las Vegas by truck.

So, why wasn't it trucked to Las Vegas from Orange CA? Or why wasn't it trucked to LAX, and then trucked to Las Vegas?

By the way, from LAX to Las Vegas is probably 4 hours by truck.

Go figure.

DHL I hear is good over seas. I would not use them and I ask companies I buy from not to send me anything via DHL. I would rather pay more with someone else than use them. With someone else you should end up getting what was sent. DHL can't go under fast enough for me. They do use independent drivers and they don't care if your package gets there or not. The terminal manager is an employee of DHL or used to be and if they can speak english might be the best place for you to start. Oh, they will also lie when they say they delivered or tried to deliver something. Good Luck. Hope you used a credit card.

DHL is owned by...the German Post Office!

I'm not kidding. DHL, which stands for "Deery, Hillblom, and Lynne", started out as a Lear-jet operator out of San Francisco in 1973. They made their money by flying airliner parts from California to Honolulu. When a plane broke down in HNL, Mr. Deery, Mr, Hillblom, or Mr. Lynne would go out to the learjet and fly it 5 hours out to the islands. A typical flight netted them something along the lines of $50,000, so they were more than happy to help out!

Well, they built their business-service cargo airline up so that they needed heavy jets. These were added in 1996 in the form of DC-8's. They've since repainted all their airplanes...but the DHL DC-8's used to all say "The Brussels Connection", which indicated DHL's huge hub in Brussels, Belgium. That hub has since closed, since the Belgian government was more interested in low-noise at night than it was in local jobs.

DHL has since bought Airborne Express, an overnight package deliverer. UPS wants to buy DHL's American operations, and Fedex is right behind the guys in BROWN; We're smaller but smarter. We'll find a WAY to buy out all the idiot packages!

N!

Not too concerned yet as it's 3-5 business day delivery and it's the third day now. It was just strange to see that it was here, and then not...

Mine shipped 2day according to the tracking, and supposedly shipped out the day I ordered it, but I think wasn't picked up until the next day. They said it would probably be delivered yesterday, but I think it'll arrive today. Still, it'll be less than a week.

Mine took a more direct route, but apparently had some deja vu this morning.

Garage
When I was flown to Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield/Storm, we flew out on a Flying Tigers plane with their crew. Are they still around?
