OK 911 guys

Is it possible to get a cool-sounding and reliable 911 with air conditioning for under $10k? One that sounds like a 917? One that will work as a daily driver, albeit only driven about 10 miles on an average week?

If you look far and wide enough, yes for $10,000.

If you can spend a bit more, the chances improve greatly to find that car.

PPI is the most important thing you should do when you find a car you might buy.

Hey, I just notice you are banned. Should I be conversing with you?

Sure! An early 3.0 with retrofit air and an M&K exhaust. Most likely a divorce sale or someone on the skids because of the economy. My Carrera might be going up for not much more than that, but no air. Lots of miles, too. Deals are much more likely now, especially for the not so garage queen variety.

The rust spots will need work but for $7500 . . . Then slap on an AC upgrade & drive.

Yup Seen allot for good buys recently. heck a 930 went for 8500 the other day with a bad clutch a few rust spots. heck jwernquist is parting a 77 coupe just because he could not get 6500 out of the car and it was a good runner needing a clutch

One of the guys in my PCA had his 911 fitted with the AC system from a GM car.

It worked flawlessly.

Nevermind on this- they sure sound cool, but my price range is not going to make it happen. Basically, I need to find a good honda or something and suck it up until i am rich someday.

I payed $11500 for mine. Strong AC (as good as my 2 year old Mazda). I daily drive it. Has headers and a dual exhaust, so it screams pretty good.

It was 20 minutes away. I passed on a few for $10k.

Yes, you can, it just takes a bit of legwork.

I'm in the same boat; my 83 was just rear-ended at ~40 last week. No need for AC, though, just want a galvanized car. What I get depends on what insurance gives me. Combining my own money with insurance payment, I'm thinking about an S2/968 (if I can find a decent manual one) or, some wishful thinking, an old 911. Even if it's a targa. I'd like an SC or 3.2 before they just get too old:

The air in my then new '70 911T worked perfectly...as long as the ambient air temp was around 70 degrees Fahrenheit...
