Local P.D. gets a need assistance call to a nearby strip mall. Tree crew is in the area out front running large gas powered wood chipper trailer, taking care of a downed tree out by the parking lot. Foreman notices guy in a full Superman costume wander out of the strip mall store and sit down at the curb.
Superman rolls up a sleeve while the crew is sort of half watching, Superman thwacks his arm and sticks a needle in, juices up with something. Superman sits a minute, stands to his feet, takes a few deep breaths and runs with arms outstretched and beat red face diving straight into the back of the wood chipper feed. Foreman says "not on my shift!" and jams the chipper in reverse spitting Superman back out onto the pavement. Superman has about 800 cuts and is stuck with all kinds branches... Unbelievable. |

Relayed story from local officer during a course I was taking...
|
Out of curiosity, was the foreman's act of saving Superman done out of his own heroic instinct to save another human's life? Or his aversion to filling out that mountain of OSHA paperwork that's gonna hit him had not-so-Superman proven he's not really the Man of Steel?
|
Was he muttering something about labor unions?
No surprises here. |

I just gotta think cleaning blood, guts, bone chips, and a cape out of the chipper would be a monumental pain in the ass.
|
Couldn't you just clean the chipper by throwing in a few rolls of paper towels or some wet naps??? I mean that's how we do it in NJ...
