Great deal at Dell outlet.

I picked up a nicely equipped (3G, 500G, 2.2GHz Intel) desk top for less than $240 yesterday.

20% off coupon G695$49?ZG9R3W for Inspiron 530 and 530s (slim) desktops priced $299 and above. Shipping is $30. (I don't know how long it's good for)

The coupon still works.

I got a 530s with a Pentium Core 2 Duo 2200, 4 Gigs RAM, 500 Gig SATA HD for $271.

Other than notebooks, I have assembled every computer I have owned. This last rig, I spent over 2 bills just for the board. Really cool one with huge copper heatsinks and copper tubing connecting the North and South bridges but it still amazes me that they can put together a package for $250 or less.

The benefits of economies of scale and vendor contributions are quite clear.

I've got 2 Dell Inspiron 530's (I'm sitting at one) and they are great!

I wonder what a company like Norton pays Dell to install their software in the boxes?

Mine shipped today and I will get it the end of next week.

I'd been watching the outlet when a co-worker told me about the coupon. I just couldn't pass it up.

I built about 3-4 myself, and loved them. I got exactly what I wanted and the machines lasted quite a while because I built them with decent parts that worked well together. But this is the second PC that I've purchased prebuilt. You just can't beat the price. The last was an e-machine. I've had it for about 4-5 years at least. It's not given me any problems. When I bought it I added a better video card and some fans. A couple of years ago, I upgraded from 512Mb of RAM to 2Gig which helped a lot, but it's way past it's prime. It's fine for Internet and Word and Excel, but for some of the photo stuff that I do it's insufficient.

I got an email that said that my PC's estimated ship date is 11/3. What a pain.

My initial e-mail said the same thing. Then I received another today to say that it shipped. It shouldn't take a week to ship as the outlet PC's are already built.

In my experience, the Dell's always arrive before the "estimated ship date". I've never waited more than 4 days for any PC I've ordered from Dell.

I received this coupon code in my email this morning. I haven't tried it, but you are welcome to.

53XP5CVXGL?X9$

Sorry, just checked. This coupon doesn't work at the outlet.

End of the quarter special.

Sounds like a great deal, but I don't want to be tied to a desktop.

Just checked the status of my order and DHL says it's already in Rochester. I'll bet I get it on Monday!

My Dell arrived today and I took a few minutes at the office to power it up. So far, so good... It was a 'scratch and dent' from the outlet, but I can't find either.

They tried to deliver mine today, but no one was home at the house. They were supposed to have delivered it yesterday. Someone was home all day. Isn't that always the way.

Unlikely, but hopefully they try again this afternoon.

If it had been UPS, they always deliver in my neighborhood in the evening and wouldn't have been a problem.

That is one reason I use the office address and not the house.
