Lottery Pool
My regular lottery pool disbanded a few weeks ago. The Canadian 649 lottery is approx $39M this Saturday, Nov. 1. Anyone here interested in starting a pool for the draw? I can organize, buy and get all the proper forms(should we win anything). It's open to Canadians and Americans alike. We don't pay taxes on lottery winnings up here. For our American friends, Uncle Sam might have his way with you; so keep that in mind.
Everyone that participates would contribute the same amount, $10 or $20 and we split it evenly. We have today and tomorrow to do this. Paypal is the only way to collect the funds in time. Once purchased, I'll scan the tickets and email them to all participants well before the draw (Friday evening or Saturday morning). If we win free tickets or smaller amounts, I will carry the tickets over to the next draw until the funds are exhausted. If interested, PM or email me. Mike |
I don't need that, I got an email from a guy in Nigeria whom I'm going to help get $18 Million!!!! I'm going to be rich, rich, rich!
|
I'm in! The odds can't be any worse than the stock market right now.
|
Hugh, I'm hoping to win big so I don't have to rely on the Nigerian thing!
Kurt, hold the thought. If we get 5-10 people with $20 each, then it'll be worth everyone's effort. The more, the better though. The odds are never good; but you never know....... |
Oregon lottery now past $10 million...with odds of 6 million to 1 against winning. Think I'll spend my usual ONE DOLLAR, if I go to town today...
|
I'd like to get at least 5 people in on this. No limit to the number of people that can participate. The only limiting factor is time (cutoff Friday 6pm). If you want in, the cost is $20. PM for payment details. I won't collect/accept payments unless we have at least 5 people.

This makes absolutely no sense to me.

It's a lottery pool like any other. The idea is to lever a small purchase and increase the chances (not odds) of winning something.

We did a lotto pool at work a few weeks ago. The only reason I joined was because everyone else was joining. And you need to understand, it wasn't peer pressure, per se, but the realization that if the pool won the lottery, I'd be the only one left at work. And that was a scary thought.
We didn't win, in case you're curious, so we all still work there. And because this is Pelican, I know that if you win, you'll still hang out here, and it won't be just the few of us who remain alone on the board. Dan |
I had the same thoughts with my old pool. I would have hated to be the only one not in it if by chance they held the winning ticket.
Anyway the odds are never good. In this case, I thought a few would want to take the plunge and throw a few bucks toward it. Doesn't look like that's the case though. |
with every location in the USA having a lottery? Why bother? Just spend what you wish to blow, and good luck to you! :D
