Some of the digital channels are going to be VHF
 

I was under the impression that all of the new digital channels were going to be UHF so I bought a UHF antenna. Now I am finding out that there will be a mix of UHF and VHF stations so I have to find a VHF antenna too. I have my UHF antenna mounted in my garage rafters and I would like to do the same with the VHF so that limits me to about 4'. Does anyone have any recommendations for a VHF/UHF antenna? I would rather not use a rotor if I can help it.

what about one of the new DIGITAL antennas?

For OTA (over the air) HDTV, I use an antenna mounted behind my entertainment center, and the picture quality is superb (better than satellite, which I also have). Check out this link:

I haven't done so yet (but it was recommended to me by someone that has), tell them what you want to recieve, and they'll recommend an antenna for inside your attic that will meet all your needs for digital.

The new 'digital' antennas are mostly UHF as most of the digital channels are UHF.

I've been to antennaweb, and they are not on track with what is really happening. I already get more channels then they say I will, and I know there are others out there.

Double check your local info. In St. Louis, all the major locals will be UHF.
I will have no need for VHF.


On a side note. I have been tweaking my antenna setup. The local PBS affiliate is about 70 degrees from the other major channels antenna towers so getting all stations to come in perfectly with one antenna has been a bust.

I recently used a jointenna to hook up a double antenna system with one antenna pointing 90 degrees off north with the other pointing 168 degrees off north. Works great.

the jointenna allows one antenna to pick up channel 39 only and the other receives all the other channels except 39.

Checked, and double checked. Some of the new channels will be VHF. I was surprised myself. The jointenna looks interesting and I may end up that way, but for starters I need a reasonable VHF antenna.

Over-the-air digital looks SO much better than over cable. I've heard this is due to the compressiont that the cable company does.

Some of the HDTV channels ARE VHF. For example, in the midlands of South Carolina 25.1, 25.2, & 25.3 are VHF.

They still look way better than they did in analog....
