Pic needed - Rockford's car

Got a bet going that it was a gold-colored Trans Am that Jim Rockford drove. Buddy says green Camaro. Is he blind or me? A lot riding on this so please don't photoshop it. TX

I remember it as a copper/brown color.

If you watched closely you would notice that they used two different body styles. Sometimes it was this car:

and other times it was this one:

Either way it was a Pontiac Firebird, not a Camaro.

Thanks for the info. Looks like copper to me, so I think I win on the gold color; definitely not green. Are you saying there were two body styles, but both TransAms? Never was too good with these domestics. Now that would impress him, even if he loses the bet.

Thanks guys. That should be enough to win the bet. Green Camaro? Must have been the nice Spaten Oktoberfest he was drinking. Drambuie made me remember a gold Trans Am, even if they both were Firebirds.

how many of you will confess to pullling a Rockford 180

I thought he had a formula firebird in some of those shows, always preferred Rocky's pickup from that show myself

also known as the "J" turn. I bounced off more than a couple parked cars learning that move.

Uh... if these are the parameters of the bet...

Gold Trans Am vs. Green Camaro

...you two are both losers, because neither is correct.

Just let it go, mannnnnn.

I got kicked off the high school parking lot for pulling a "Rockford "my senior year.

It was awesome..............except my car stalled..............and then a teacher ran up and tried to take my keys.

I went to the assistant principal's office and confessed before the teacher even had the report written. I spent the next 6 weeks parking next door at the juvenile correction facility.

Good times, good times.

Wikipedia confirmed my memory that while he drove a Firebird, some stunts utilized a Camaro. The year Firebird was not consistent.

Also, the original Firebird was James Garner's OWN car.

He did the car chases and fights himself - no double. The show was cancelled in midseason due to Garner's health problems.

Tom Sellick guest starred a number of times, and when it was cancelled, 'Magnum PI' was born. Firebird to Ferrari.

The episodes with Tom Sellick were good. "Lance" something with a white 76-ish Edorado convertible with red leather, IIRC. Everything went his way and the opposite for Rockford.
