Tivo to DVD

I have been working on finding a free method of transferring my Tivo shows to DVD.

I have went thru lots of software only to be disappointed.

Tivo Series 3 HD wireless to computer
Transfer to computer via Tivo Desktop

convert Tivo files to mpeg with Direct Show Dump Utility
This produces a fine MPEG

Anyone use a good MPEG to DVD converter? I have tried lots and none seem to work very well or fast. I successfully produced a DVD with DVD Flick but the sound is out of sync.

I would like to use Windows DVD Maker but it requires WMV files.
Anyone use a good mpeg to wmv converter?

I use WinAVI for conversion of downloaded torrents to DVD. No complaints.

I have been following the Tivo communitys advice for a couple of days as well as googling. I have tried lots of freeware and have not found a good combo of software. Lots of software avail but the free stuff has been disappointing.

This morning I am trying WinAVI based on chris' recommendation and so far so good. The trial version leaves a water mark but I 'found' a fix to that.

Tivo to computer via Tivo Desktop
Tivo to mpeg via Direct Show Dump
Mpeg to wmv via WinAVI
WMV to DVD via Windows DVD Maker (Vista)

We'll see if the pic quality and sound sync work out. There is an option to go mpeg to dvd on WinAVI and I will try that next.

I have this and love it. I burn every F1 season to DVD.

I also have burned favorite movies and series to DVD.

Its so simple to use, you insert a DVD select the program you want burned and walk away.

10-20 minutes later its done.

Success!

WinAVI worked great. Pretty fast too. Ended up using the mpeg to DVD mode in WinAVI then burned using the WinAVI utility. Quality is decent and the sound is sync'd.
