I think it should have a whale-tail.

just read it... 1500 miles
original, yet a rebuilt engine?? Then talk about a full restoration first i thought it was a car that never had been driven.... yet with talk about restoration... are those 1500 miles actual miles, or miles since restoration? miles on the rebuild?

![]() Actually, in a weak economy, collectibles usually stay strong or even rise. Money is looking for a place to park and the traditional places are not appealing. There are still a lot of rich people around. If I'd had the $$ and bought every special car I've ever wanted when I first wanted it, I'd be a zillionaire right now. Unfortunately, I didn't have the $$ then and I don't have it now. That's life... As for this car, it seems to be a low#, legit factory LW which has always been a lot more valuable than a regular, or touring '73 RS. Maybe double the coin, condition being equal. Beautiful resto, looks like no corners cut, it would be even more valuable if it was original and mint. There is a British guy in the rgruppe who has a '73 RS touring in this condition that is unrestored. Yup, showroom condition and still smells new, not restored. That's the holy grail among collectors, but a 100 point (or close) resto would be 2nd best. The factory LW w/ all original LW parts is a money car.

And to think...a '73RS used to be my dream car. These days, just having a good BM is better than having a new BMW...

Isn't 'completely original' and 'fully restored' an oxymoron? To me a 'completely original' car is one that has not been touched since it left the factory.

Thats a nice car, but you would never drive it because of the value.
I would rather have a nice clone that I would drive the wheels off. Pretty Sweet !!! I could not just look at that with out driving it.

This car is not 'original' in the sense that it is unrestored. It is 'original' in terms of all its specifications, parts, etc.
Knowing Scott St. Peter, who owns the shop that restored this car, Carrera6, I wouldn't be surprised if every part date is proper, and in perfect condition. This isn't the best unrestored RS around, but it is surely one of the "nicest" (Some mean 'nice' in the sense of its unrestored-ness). It is an absolutely beautiful machine.

Here is what bugs me. The wrong distribution of money. People like for example my uncle, that could buy a car like that every week of the year, but have no interest what so ever in cars. Then people like me, with a severe passionate addiction for cars like that, could not buy one in a life time..

I know how to make this car affordable to all of us.
Photoshop an ownership showing Pesto as the previous owner.
