Old Tools

No, not me:cool:

My barns are going to be reworked starting next week. I spent the morning cleaning up and organizing in preparation. There is also an Amish farm auction next week and I was looking for items to sell.

I have a lot of old tools, all inherited, that I will never use...wooden handle hand lathes, tons of odd tools I can't decipher and a bunch of old farm tools.

Is there a market for this stuff? If so, any "Pelican" type websites that you guys could recommend? I don't want to take anything to auction without a clue as to what all this stuff may be worth.

Thanks in advance.

If any of the tools contain a stamp reading

J. Weaver
Muir, PA

I would be insanely interested in them. Jacob Weaver was my great grandfather as well as a blacksmith.

T answer your question...yes, a collectables market out there for old tools. A very intense one.

If man made something, sure as hell, there are other men collecting it....even spoons! ;)

I'll look for J. Weaver...most of the tools are from my grandfathers, both from California.

Thanks Paul...very true.

any metal working tools?

Tabs might know - he likes that old stuff. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on an old Bridgeport (wouldn't like the shipping costs though...)

Let me know before you put them up for sale. Might be interested in some of them. My great great grandfather was a blacksmith and worked with things like this.

Seahawk - Thanks for the piece of equipment you sent for my folks. I trust you got my 'reply'?

No metal working tools that I can see.

Joe, I'll take some pics this week.

Aerkuld, I got your letter. Thanks! How was the Dragon?

Like I needed to see this! :)

Got another email from that jerk a few days ago. He cannot understand why its not ok to take the press apart and try to sell it to me for more in pieces, when he agreed to sell it to me "as is" for a set price. Oh well, we knew he was an idiot, just not how much of an idiot he really was.
