I think we should let Mexico annex California and we can get away w/o having to bail them out as well. Excellent cost saving move, think I'll recommend it to the "O"man when he calls to discuss things with me.

That's an old one. No way the L.A. Times would print a report like that.

Who knows what The Times will print these days. They aren't even The Times; they're the Chicago Tribune West Coast edition, so who knows what sort of culture pervades LA Times' editorial department.
As for whether or not those stats are 100% true, who's to say. A workmate stated she wants to move to Orange County to escape the "illegals." Well, they're in the O.C. too.

San Diego is probably the nicest place to live south of Santa Barbara. At least San Diego doesn't have Santa Barbara's smugness.

There are a very large # of people working illegally off the books in L.A. county but no way it's 40% of the working population. For starters, how would they accurately extrapolate that #? 15-20% I might believe, still a HUGE number.

Take a drive through East LA man.....every house has a garage behind it that is a rental. And Yep those stats are probably abot right. There is a hugh under ground economy...
Illegals have been sucking dry the system for decades in CA....say hello to 10.5% sales tax in the County.

Ohhhh DD Santa Barbara yazzz ah that is the place TABS ought to be....away from the sh!+ where the air is still clear, with all the amenities one could want and none of the congestion and riff Raff.
Only problem is that it is CA with all the attendant stuff.

Living in So Cal, I would say the illegal population has decreased substantially due to the economy.
