You've likely gotten a virus. Download spybot (http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html) and Lavasoft Ad-aware (lavasoft.com) and run them both.

those programs are a good starting point. what you may want to do is download a program called 'hijack this'. this program will diagnose what changes have been made to the system; homepage, registry, etc. there used to be a forum that 'experts' would tell you what to change. i haven't needed help in a few years, but i would imagine its still running. i run webroot spysweeper and their firewall software. I haven't had any major problems in ~3 years, but i run sweeps twice a week.

I agree with both suggestions.
Try Malwarebytes as well. http://www.malwarebytes.org/ What about you Mule?

What OS are you running, Windows XP, or some other version of windows?
Do you have a firewall or a router that you're going through? Do you know what the IP address of the PC is? It is likely that you have a virus or some malware, but it could be a combination of things as well.

If you're using IE, use Mozilla FireFox as your browser instead, that will help, as well as running some anti-malware software...
