Key logger program!
 

I am suspecting I may have a keylogger installed on my PC. Obviously Norton hasn't caught it.

WHat would be the best way to find it?

Try Spybot-search and destroy, its free, this should pick it up otherwise Webroot Spy Sweeper will get it.

The files that the key logger found appear to be the indexing system.

2 of my credit cards have suddenly had un-authorized transactions. I'm just verifying that it isn't from a key logger.

One of the transactions came from a local (the ship to was about 5 miles away), but 2 of the others were in far away places.

Kill the cards. Get replacements.

Religiously shred your confidential trash.

Is your wifi access point secure? Did you go into the router and replace the default admin login?

If not it's pretty simple to sit outside your house with a laptop and packet sniffer which can log unencrypted traffic as clear text.

I use one card for online stuff. One for day to day and another for big ticket purchases so if compromised I know where the breach came from.

They are killed. The Wifi is secure, and has been for years. I think these were done at point of sale. One of them was a place which sells suits, and they had my full address in the system. it doesn't take long to use a camera phone to take both side of the card.

The other one I expect it was a fast food drive up...

I just wanted to make sure that I didn't pickup a trojan key logger.

First things first... Stop using that computer immediately.
Report fraud in all your credit cards, change passwords in all your email addresses and confirm the banks have this new info. Don't take this as a small thing.. it can easily kill your name...

Red, what made you suspect it was a key-logger?

If you have C++ installed you can write a small program to take a look at segment 0, offset 1054 (41E hex) and see what is also taking a "peek" at it. Even with new systems I think the keyboard buffer is still in the same place memory wise so it would be easy to watch it. Another option would be to do a code dump to an ASM file and search for that address and see if anything is watching the buffer. It is very easy to add about a dozen lines of assembly code to a dll or other utility program and have it sneek under the radar.

I have not found a keyboard logger. I have been the victim of credit card fraud. One possible place they could have gotten it would be from my PC. So needed to check it out.

I am now believing it is a "ring" here in Houston.

Jim, I have a keylogger program (All in one Keylogger) on my computer to watch the kids, Wow does it do the job, and Nortons does NOTHING to detect it, I also have Spy Sweeper and Spybot on the same computer and those DO detect it.

Norton used to be OK...in ther last 4 years they went to crap. I use Stopzilla now and am very happy, Heck you can even call them up !!
