Computer Guru Help

I am getting pop ups and I am not even on the internet? When I am on the net I get even more. It's really driving me crazy. I set the pop up blocker to block them but they just keep coming. I need some recomendations.

Help

You've likely gotten a virus. Download spybot (http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html) and Lavasoft Ad-aware (lavasoft.com) and run them both.

those programs are a good starting point. what you may want to do is download a program called 'hijack this'. this program will diagnose what changes have been made to the system; homepage, registry, etc. there used to be a forum that 'experts' would tell you what to change. i haven't needed help in a few years, but i would imagine its still running. i run webroot spysweeper and their firewall software. I haven't had any major problems in ~3 years, but i run sweeps twice a week.

I agree with both suggestions.

Try Malwarebytes as well.

What OS are you running, Windows XP, or some other version of windows?

Do you have a firewall or a router that you're going through?

Do you know what the IP address of the PC is?

It is likely that you have a virus or some malware, but it could be a combination of things as well.

If you're using IE, use Mozilla FireFox as your browser instead, that will help, as well as running some anti-malware software...

Exactly.

Best way to get a shot of ONLY the active window, is by holding when you hit . If that gets the wrong window, then just will capture your entire desktop (so hide the porn)

screen shot!

press CTRL and the (print screen/ sysrq) this copies it into the clipboard

then open mspaint / word or other graphics program and you should be able to PASTE it there by doing CTRL V or other as per the drop down.

then post it
