"If your my dog could drive, he/she would drive a..."

One of my favorite dinner/drinks conversations with fellow dog lovers.

Here are mine:

-Ella (young great dane; affectionate, liberal, yet practical--needs the headroom): Honda Element

-Ben (15 year old aussie mix; an eager CPA in his last life): Accord/Camry

-Hank (young ridgeback, kind of like a dorky-but-ok-with-it teenager): too young to drive ;)

teenerted1 11-13-2008 01:00 PM

merle(6yr old Aussie; out of control redneck mud covered carpet wrecker) Monster truck, but he loves getting in the Porsche before the garage door is fully open.

Joe Ricard 11-13-2008 01:02 PM

Dipstick, 3 yr old female shepard chow mix. Definately would drive my VW/Porsche 914.

Seahawk 11-13-2008 01:11 PM

Cassie, the 3 year-old Red Heeler, an old Toyota FJ-40 with a Chevy small block and suspension upgrades.

Hoge (Hover Out of Ground Effect), the 1 year-old Aussie Shepard, an old Bronco with a new V-8 and suspension upgrades.

They both get good gas mileage, though:cool:

Interesting thread.

Snooper Joe (aka Snoopy, Snoofer, Pooper, Stinky, Stupid) - a B/W Rat Terrier would drive a roadster of sorts...

He's now past away, but my black Lab would have driven some sort of cool truck with the window wound down so he could do a polite bark as he cruised past some sexy b1tches.

I picture my old black lab Earl just like that...maybe an El Camino or a Dodge Power Wagon.

Dogs are an opposable thumb away...

My dogs are German and have better bloodlines than I do. Since they are hunting dogs they would need something to haul game and go off-road. I think they would settle for nothing less than a G-Wagen.

My 4

Bailey- 13 year old Beagle- Most call him the General - He'd be chauffered in a Jeep like Patton.
Ginger -11yr old Beagle - Complete princess - Chauffered in a Rolls
Emma- 8 yr old Lab - Anything that lets her be in the water, maybe a watercar.
Pepper -3 yr old Mutt - A Honda2000, flying fast fun, and high strung, but reliable.

My neighbor's dog is a collie terrier mix, and he prefers not to drive, as it interferes with his ability to run alongside the wheels while trying to read the sidewalls. He would also tell you not to be foolish, as no car has actually out run him. It's all circumstancial.

Beautiful dogs...is the large one a German Short Hair?

Oh Haha 11-13-2008 02:38 PM

Mack-mutt

he would probably drive a Geo Metro.

scottmandue 11-13-2008 02:45 PM

Cher, the now departed yellow retriever/collie/gaudnoswhat mix.

Pickup truck with a bed full of trash/dirt/manure so she could occasionally jump in the back and roll around to freshen up.

rammstein 11-13-2008 02:51 PM

Lola the Greyhound (will add pic when I get home) - Ferrari F40- fast as hell, and like most F40s out there, she spends most of her time at rest. Greyhounds are unbelievably lazy. To her the couch is the greatest thing that ever happened.

Anyone older from SoCal remember these besides me? Filled daily with fresh baked breads, pies, french rolls, donuts. You could smell them from 50 feet waway. This is what my 100 lb blonde lab would be driving!

sammyg2 11-13-2008 06:27 PM

Thank you, they are both GSPs. The white one was a puppy in that pic, her spots are more pronounced now.

RWebb 11-13-2008 08:03 PM

dogs are cursorial predators

-- every one of them would drive the fastest, highest powered sports car they could lay paws on.

Gromit likes a boxer twin.

I saw the truck every morning while walking to school in 7th grade in Downey, my first year in California. But it was a GMC or Chevy panel, not the early model you remember. It was 1968, so just about the at the end of the Helm's era.

oh.. here's a Helm's truck for sale local. Needs some TLC.

A Ruf of course;)

Bill Douglas 11-15-2008 09:57 PM

We are a right hand drive country and a guy with a LHD Camaro drives around with his large dog in the passenger seat. It looks really funny. A dog taking his best mate out for a drive.

holtjv 11-16-2008 07:01 AM

Just snapped this a.m. at the dog park.

Guess they'd drive an SC.

I thought only cats could drive cars.

Something like this no doubt:

I think on Top Gear, they had a Lab driving a Gallardo.

My old dog ( I miss her) was half beagle and half Jack russell, looked right at home in my old 86 GTI. They were both dogs.

azasadny 11-17-2008 02:59 AM

Our 1 year-old Golden Retriever loves our 911 targa. I'm sure she would rather drive than be a passenger!
