Yo pwd
In March of 07 the DOC said TABS...your A1C test was 7.6. Oppps I slipped over the line. The Doc said you have been putting the wrong fuel in your body...you can eat all the meat, fish, vegetables and cheese you want. You just have to stay at 60 grams of Carbs a day... Can you do it yourself? I thought OHHH Boy you mean I can still have those 2 16 oz Rib Eyes....She said the magic words....
Since that day I have limited my Carbs to UNDER 100 Grams a day. I lost 50 lbs which I have kept off for a year in September. My A1C went to 6.3 which is considered to be controled (5.9 is high normal with under 7.0 being controled. Also my Cholesteral went from 225 to 137...and I still suck down the ribs like breathing air. This is no problem...I don't eat pasta, pizza, bread, rice, sugar or potatoe. I do eat whole Wheat Bread at 12 Grams less the fiber and sugar comes to 8 grams a slice. I get the low carb flour tortillas at 5 Grams...Chocolate get the no sugar....Raw Nuts like Almonds are great. People have gone to the Buffet with me and I am sure they are astounded at the amounts I consume... Start using Splenda in the the coffee...eat the No sugar deserts....when I have 3 pieces of pie at the Buffet I just don't eat the crust...If ya want to rink a beer drink a Lite one....Miller has a 64 calorie and at apx 3 grams of Carb. I still drink my Gin & Tonics with Diet Tonic... I take my little pill every day... I asked the Doc should I get a monitor, she at first said NAW....she wanted me to start excercising and thought the monitor would help me see the diff, so the second thime in she recommended it. She also would like to see me drop another 30 or so....but at this weight I am stable.....and th eonly excercise is the weight lifting of the fork at the Buffet. It really is no problem to count thse Carbs....DUDE... It will keep you healthier LONGER...

Thanks...I'm still researching. Fish is off the list, tho. I'm allergic. If I eat fish, it comes right back up..worse than a freshman frat party..

Tabdullah, you need to keep in mind that LDL/HDL ratio thing, it is important and often an issue with diabetics. IMHO all diabetics should have a glucose monitor. Check your sugar at various times. For example, on rising Monday, before lunch Tues, after lunch Wed, after breakfast Thurs, before dinner Sat, before bed Sunday, or something like that. Gives you a more complete picture of what your sugars are doing during the day.
Also, if your BG spikes for no apparent reason, you have an infection somewhere, often urinary tract.

Well done.
I quite agree. The worst evils are refined sugars and white bread. |
