Cat Nipples For the Veterinarians. Do cats' get blackheads in their nipples? Have a female long hair, 12 yrs old, fixed. Wife picked her up before and noticed one of the nipples was a bit hard and had some small brown/tan granular crusty stuff around it. Checked over the cat and found two nipples had "objects" protruding from them, one kinda tannish semi translucent about 1/8 long and slightley smaller than the diameter of a toothpick. The other object was black, 3/16th long and pretty thick. Both were hard/solid and protruding from the "pore" Both came out when I grabbed them. Did not seem to be causing the cat any discomfort but then again hard to tell with cats. |

They secrete (sp) some stuff, so can get blocked. My cat had one that got what looked like a blister and the vet was concerned about anesthetic as she was 21 years old so didn't want to operate on her. But Chalkie being Chalkie, she just chewed it off and was fine. Cats are in some ways self maintaining. If you can keep them away from the vet nature is best in some situations. |
