Thumbs up Microsoft gave me $200 to buy a Macbook!!

How is this for Irony?

Microsoft is trying to build traffic to their Live.com search engine by giving 25% referral fees (up to $200) to users of their site. So I found a new Macbook for sale on Ebay, used the Microsoft Referral fee plus another $100 from a Paypal 10% off coupon (up to $100) to get a Macbook for $300+ off of retail (no taxes and free shipping). Sweet deal!!

Now I am debating whether or not to keep the Mac Microsoft free.

The Macbook is actually for the SO, but I will be here asking questions. First one is, what do I need to edit MPEG-4 movies from a Sony HandyCam? I tried on a friend's Macbook, but it was giving me codec issues.

Ah, so it only works at Select sites, like eBay and HP.com.

codec issues are the biggest issue for video editing.

first you need to figure out which codec it wants then try to find it.

there is an addon pack for quicktime that delivers the common mpeg codecs, it's like $19 or $29.

You can also try Perian, free.
