Extreme Autocross
Could you imagine a course like this at your local club autocross?
They call it a Gymkhana, but it looks more like an autocross course to me. I especially like the move he makes at 3:00. Here's another forum discussion on this, and a like to a magazine article. http://forums.solo2.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1025#p17225

I wish I could pull off that kind of pivot cone maneuver in my Miata... it might not be faster, but it would be fun(until I add up the tire cost
![]() That said.. meh EDIT: DOH MISSED THE OTHER THREAD

Four minutes of video, four sets of tires.
I only wish I could drive like that.

jeez! I thought I was doing well by going through my Rcomps in about an hour-hour and a half of autocross time.

Judging by the marks on the pavement, some of those maneuvers were done more than once.

Front wheel drive...makes tossing 'em around easier. Still don't like it for regular driving...just feels weird to me.

Ice scating with your subaru. This must be related to "drifting". Certainly is not the fastest way around the track - fun though, if you have the money for tires.
That is an AWD vehicle, by the way, not FWD. George |

The prodigious cloud of smoke rolling off of the back tires is usually a clue too.
![]() FWD cars have a helluva time doing doughnuts. I'd sort of always thought that rwd made it easier to "drift" a car around a corner. A fwd car can't has a harder time maintaining a slide because you can't modulate the traction of the rear axle with the throttle the way you can in a rwd car.
