The return of decent broadcast radio to El Lay
I've mentioned this before, but we finally have a decent radio station again in LA, and for as long as it lasts, I will be celebrating.
It seems most all good stations in this market devolve into some form of pop. The Sound (100.3) had returned to a great mix of AAA and "deeper" cuts, along with DJ selected music (probably an insider term for this but I don't know it - ask The Last DJ). Today, the are playing album sides. All the DJ's brought in their vinyl, and they're playing the whole sides. And yes, I have satellite radio - but this rocks. IMHO f course. |
I like the "Vinyl Wednesday" concept. Listened to Warren Zevon's "Excitable Boy" and PF's "Wish You Were Here" on the drive in this A.M. I didn't know Mick Fleetwood and John McVie played on "Werewolves of London". You learn something new every day.

I heard the same two. Pretty cool!

2. HEAR IT > 3. > Listen Live 4. This stream is unavailable today while 100.3 The Sound presents Album Sides Wednesday. We apologize for the inconvenience and invite listeners in Southern California to tune to 100.3 The Sound on FM. According to rules agreed upon with the Recording Industry Association of America, we are banned from presenting uninterrupted album sides on an Internet stream. TheSoundLA.com's online stream will return tomorrow. 5. |

Bring back top 40...

Some may find thus pathetic, but while hearing the hiss and pop of vinyl, I realized I...actually...miss it. Sad!

I still have all my old vinyl... and Santa replaced my old turntable last year... I'm lovin' it.
