A very low mile (less than 40K miles), very nice C2S sold on eBay in the last couple of weeks for around $35K.

Looks like a really nice car but not a garage queen. With collectible cars, they have to be in showroom condition to pull the $$. Porsche sold a fair number of these cars, so they're out there and will be for a while. This car would be perfect for me if I were in the market, it has all of the really expensive and desirable mods like PSS9 coil-overs and those BBS wheels. It just seems like a car with a lot of track time on it, which does not ruin these cars by any means but greatly reduces their resale.

a "fair" number is nine hundred ninety three C2S's produced. Pretty rare IMO. But don't beat me up over it!;)

serge944 11-19-2008 11:32 AM

The C4Ss still sell for 45k+. Pretty ridiculous. I'll take a 996TT, thanks.

speeder 11-19-2008 12:28 PM

I'd much rather have a C2S than a C4S. 4-wheel drive and a bunch of extra weight + mechanical complication is the last thing you need in a sports car.

Yeah, I was watching that too. It was a great deal:

Mike Willhoit bought it, then put it back on eBay the next week with a $49k "Buy it now". It is already up to $43k, with a day to go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190265994951

It's not "up to $43k", that's his starting point and no one has bid on it.

Yeah, I realized that later, and meant to go back and edit the post but got side-tracked. Just initially caught off guard as the "buy it now" of $49k disappeared.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if it gets any bids (I'm sure it will be relisted). He usually has a few nice low mileage cars in his rotation, but way overpriced (IMO), including a few other low-mileage C2/4 S cars that were north of $60k.

Apparently, this guy didn't get the memo either:

Nice low-mileage car, but $80k? Yeah...

Rick Lee 11-19-2008 06:26 PM

Although not a real C2S, my car is every bit as nice as that one, same mileage and I will never sell it. So I don't care what they're going for.

There was a 993 cab that was for sale at a local Land Rover dealership last month. I drive by the dealership on my way home from work. I never stopped by to actually take a closer look at the car, but noticed it sitting there for a couple weeks at $36K. Then it got dropped to $29K before it finally went away.

pwd72s 11-20-2008 11:04 AM

IIRC, around 75 grand?

Halm 11-20-2008 11:09 AM

IMO, that is too many miles on a '98. Also the PSS9's and new windshield scream "TRACK" to me so how much extra wear and tear is there on this car. And no mention of history/records.

I'd do a PPI and love it. . . At $32,500.
