Just got my bow all tuned up and ready to rock...
Yup, finally
Got the trusty ol' Switchback all tuned up and ready to rock and roll for deer season. Rest is tuned, string re-served, new D-loop, new arrows cut, fletched with Blazers and wearing Muzzy Thunderhead XP 100s on the business end. Gonna sight it in today. I was originally going to only sight it on 10 yard increments, but I switched to a heavier, slower arrow so I don't know if that's going to work; probably going to toss the 5 yards in there as well. Arrows are 9.5gpi, 27" = 256.5gr, pus broadheads is 356.5, plus 2.5gr/ea for vanes is...364, nock is another 4...so 369 and the wrap is about 8...so I'm shooting 377 gr. arrows, at a 26" draw and 60#. I haven't chrono'ed it yet, but I'm sure it's dog slow compared to my hold Hoyt, which was launching 350gr arrows @ 70# and 27.5". Should have good kinetic energy though, I guess we'll (hopefully) see in a couple of days. Bow hunters...or deer hunters in general...anyone put meat on the table yet this season? I'm *praying* for a deer this season to cut down on my living expenses at school. I've eaten tag-soup for the last 3 years, so maybe this is the year. Not going to be as selective...doe? Fine by me! This isn't me, it's the guy I hunt with; he got it off a piece of the farm I work at:
