Nigerian Letters

I keep getting these pathetic things and am wondering if anyone has ever strung them along just to get a fake check or two...or even just for the fun of it. Besides, it beats watching political conventions.

The latest one I got was from one Princess Kumba promising 2.8 mil. I feel like playing this one a bit, but will certainly stop short of any financial info. I also want a picture of this 'Princess' but expect I'll get a file photo of Rosie O'Donnal or some such

A friend, an antique gun dealer, has a collection of checks from far and wide which are fake payments for antique arms. Quite amusing. I think he'll make some sort of display out of them soon.

I heard once that there is a web site listing those who have been caught but can't recall the name of the site.

Cool stuff there...thanks Dutchie.

I got one a few days ago purportedly from an FBI agent tell me that he had investigated and that my money was real on could be collected. Not badly written but too may misspelled words and incorrect syntax to be believeable to anyone. Return email address was @hotmail... not @fbi.gov.

Just a new twist.

I'm just hoping for a pic of the lovely Princess

"This American Life" (NPR) did a good story on the 419 scammers. It's called "The Enforcers" you should be able to download as mp3. Very funny! (although the NPR guy didn't think so.)
