Chili + Rogue Mocha Porter
A typical Saturday night thread--food and drink. Mainly drink.
If you haven't tried this combo, you're missing out on near perfection--the incredibly well-balanced mocha porter (it actually has some hoppiness) with some savory/spicy chili just..works. So what're you drinking tonight??????????? Jack |
No pictures but I made pasta with garlic bread tonight. I saw an AOL clip by Tyler Florence about doing the sauce without it getting watery so I thought I would try it. With a 5YO and a 2YO, we don't eat very exotic.
I just happened to have a couple of beers left from last weekend when my wife was gone to Chicago. I'm a big Edmund Fitzgerald fan and when I saw this I had to get some. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1228005876.jpg Yep, it pretty much tastes like the bottom of the Great Lakes. Bleecchhh!:( |
Chili-dogs and vodka on the rocks for me.
Dave |
green chile stew with jalapeno cornbread. tequila on the side.
|
Capellini alla puttanesca tonight with a matini to start and some crusty french bread.
|
Sounds good Jack. Now I'm going to have to make up a mean batch of chili!
Tonight, it was grilled tilapia with broccoli/cheese potatoes (baby reds) and margaritas here. Margarita recipe: 2 parts Cazadores/Corralejo (or any good Reposado) tequila 1 part Grand Marnier 3 parts Margarita mix (or limeade) 1/4 lime wedge (squeeze first). Shake (and serve) with lots of ice, enjoy. :) |
I like margaritas most any way imaginable.
Last time I was in mexico a bartender told me the "original" recipe was 2 parts tequila 1 part cointreau 1 fresh lime Try it--it'll knock your socks off. I usually impose a no-more-than 2 drink limit on this one with folks who may be driving in the following 8 hours... |
The Ed Fitz is one of my Favorite Porters. We can't get it out here on the east coast, send the rest of that 6pack this way!
|
Freybird:
It was way too dark for me but I drank it anyway. I really only bought it for the nostalgia. PM your address and a 6 pack will be enroute. Happy Pelican Day!!! |
best beer drinkin' appetizer for me is jalapeno(canned work well for this, halved lengthwise, stuffed with cream cheese, wrap in bacon and bake at 350 until bacon is done. Careful though, may have ring of fire the next day, if you get my meaning.
|
It's monday morning but as soon as I am done with work I'm fixing a large pot of spicy chili paired with a sixxer of Dos Equis Ambar- the best beer/chili combo IMO.
