Yosemite Valley - high resolution
http://www.xrez.com/yose_proj/yose_deepzoom/new/XRez%20Xtreme%20Pano/index.html
Zoom in toward a half circle until a photo appears, then zoom into the photo. |
That's very cool.
Here's some info on how the xRez folks make these images: http://www.xrez.com/services/spher/xRez_spher.html Also, I'm not a big fan of MSFT, but I do like Silverlight. |
If you zoom in from the Glacier Point picture to Half Dome, you can actually see several people up top. Way cool!

Great website- thanks for posting it. Here's some similar work done with an extreme camera:

I hiked Half Dome twice. It's a miserable hike....especially when you are resting and a 70 year old retired couple sprints by. Seriously, it's a very difficult hike that is like climbing stairs for 9 miles up.
It's amazing up there. You can see people in your photo sitting close to the edge. It's misleading in the photo because it's really like walking to the edge on a downward slope. I had to crawl to the edge (like a little baby). It's only a mile drop - straight down. |
Been around for a couple years.
